Excellent — Minimal Seas, High Solunar

The calmest water in a fortnight, and the conditions to match. Northwest to southwest winds run 1–12 mph with surf of just 0.7 to 0.8 ft, water holds at 86°F, solunar rates high across all three beaches, and rip current risk stays at low — forecast to hold there right through Tuesday. Every beach runs a long overnight-to-late-afternoon falling tide. Flags: yellow with purple at all three beaches. The only real constraint is the heat, and even that has eased from last week.

🌡 Heat Advisory — 11 AM to 8 PM CDT

The National Weather Service has a Heat Advisory in effect from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM CDT today. The advisory covers a wide area of southwest Alabama, northwest Florida and southeast Mississippi with heat index values of 108 to 112 degrees; the coastal zone forecasts put the beaches themselves nearer the lower end, around 106 to 107. Either way it is hot enough to matter, and it is the ninth consecutive day under advisory or warning. Drink water steadily rather than waiting until you are thirsty, wear lightweight loose clothing, and take breaks in shade or air conditioning.

Watch for heat exhaustion: heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea or confusion. Anyone showing those signs should get to a cool place and drink water immediately. If someone becomes unresponsive or loses consciousness, call 911 — heat stroke is a medical emergency. Check on elderly neighbours and anyone with health conditions, and never leave children or pets in a parked car.

🌊 Calm and Clear — Fish Will See You

Rip current risk is at low and wading is straightforward, though rips still form around pier pilings, jetties and the passes — keep a foot planted and do not wade alone. All three beaches are flying purple for dangerous marine life, so bare legs in the water are a poor idea today. The other consequence of water this flat is visibility: at sub-foot surf the Gulf will be clear, and fish will spot you and your terminal tackle far more easily than they did last week. Lighter leader, longer casts and less movement on the sand are worth the trouble.

What's Active Today

Bonita — The top target through the day. Concentrate on Gulf-facing beaches and piers where baitfish congregate; these fish feed aggressively in calm conditions like today's. Early morning produces the strongest action.

Hardtail — Consistently present alongside the bonita near deeper structure and troughs. Active through the day, with peak feeding during the tidal transitions — position near moving water for the best results.

Cigs — Mixed through the nearshore action with a strong feeding response today, most abundant around the deeper troughs and pier ends. Intensity holds through daylight and into the evening.

Best approach today: fish the long morning falling tide before the advisory opens at 11 AM, and go lighter than usual — the water is clear enough that presentation matters.

Optimal Fishing Windows

Every beach peaks overnight and falls right through to the late afternoon. Pensacola tops out first at 1.66 ft at 2:40 AM, then Navarre at 1.73 ft at 3:48 AM and Destin at 0.78 ft at 5:23 AM. Lows land 4:03 PM at Pensacola (0.14 ft), 4:40 PM at Navarre (0.23 ft) and 5:28 PM at Destin (0.09 ft). Navarre has the biggest range at 1.5 ft; Pensacola has the longest fall at over thirteen hours. The whole morning is fishable before the heat advisory opens at 11 AM, and Destin's late low pairs well with an evening session after 8 PM. Live tide times are on the tides page.

Beach-by-Beach Overview

Navarre Beach

Bonita and hardtail dominate through the day, with cigs adding solid supporting action. Calm seas and light winds make for ideal working conditions on the Gulf-facing beach and pier, and fish are feeding aggressively. Focus on where baitfish concentrate. Navarre has the biggest tidal swing of the three today. Yellow plus purple, rip risk low. Contact Navarre Beach Marine Park for current access information. Full Navarre Beach conditions are posted separately.

Pensacola Beach

Bonita show consistent aggressive feeding around structure and moving water, with hardtail and cigs as solid secondary options. The 2:40 AM high sets up the longest falling tide of the three, so the morning here runs deepest. Winds are the lightest on the coast. One caution: the NWS zone forecast carries a rain chance as high as 50 percent, so watch the radar before committing to a long session. Yellow plus purple. Check with local operators along the causeway for current access details. Full Pensacola Beach conditions are posted separately.

Destin

No municipal pier here, so it is East Pass charters or surf fishing at Henderson Beach. Bonita are the primary target with consistent opportunities through the day, and hardtail and cigs supplement the action. Light winds and calm seas make the run offshore easy, though an open deck under advisory heat calls for a morning departure. The 5:28 PM low is the latest of the three — good for an evening session once the advisory lifts. Yellow plus purple. Full Destin conditions are posted separately.

⚠ Conditions Note

All three beaches are yellow with purple — moderate hazard, and dangerous marine life reported along the whole stretch. Rip current risk is low and forecast to stay low through Tuesday with surf around a foot. A Heat Advisory runs 11 AM to 8 PM, with heat index values of 108 to 112 area-wide and the coastal zones nearer 106 to 107. Minimal seas, high solunar and long falling tides make this an excellent day — fish the morning.
