Spanish Mackerel — The most reliable option along all three beaches. Focus on beach troughs and sandbar cuts where concentrated moving water gathers baitfish. Best response comes through the morning and around the tidal transitions.
Hardtail — Running alongside the mackerel near the troughs and sandbar cuts. Present all day with consistent activity anywhere current is concentrated.
Redfish — The better opportunity is around protected shoreline, passes and structure. Tidal movement in restricted water is what triggers the feeding response.
Black Drum — Holding near structure, passes and protected shoreline zones. Early morning and the tidal transitions are the windows worth working.
King Mackerel — Out in deeper water and around the pier ends. Morning periods and slack water transitions offer the best shot; look for concentrated moving water.
Best approach today: fish early and work the passes and structure on the long afternoon fall.
Optimal Fishing Windows
All three beaches peak overnight and fall through the whole day, and today's swings are the widest of the week. Pensacola tops out first at 1.67 ft at 2:20 AM, then Navarre at 1.65 ft at 3:24 AM and Destin at 0.74 ft at 4:42 AM. The lows land late in the afternoon — 3:26 PM at Pensacola at −0.01 ft, 3:59 PM at Navarre at 0.16 ft and 4:32 PM at Destin at 0.05 ft. Pensacola's negative low means water below the tidal datum, so sandbars and structure will be unusually exposed through the afternoon, which is worth knowing whether you are fishing them or wading around them.
