Spanish Mackerel — The primary target and the most dependable species across all three beaches, holding in shallow and intermediate water. Work the beaches, the pier ends and the deeper troughs where they concentrate through the tidal movements.
Hardtail — Running mixed with the mackerel along pier ends and deeper troughs. Consistent all day, with the strongest response through slack water transitions and near bottom structure.
Sailfish — In the offshore and nearshore migration corridor, following the natural movement routes through the high tide periods. Boat access is what makes this one realistic; talk to a local operator.
Blacktip Shark — Active offshore and nearshore along the migration routes, responding through the peak feeding windows set by the tidal transitions and solunar periods.
Best approach today: fish the morning and work the long falling tide into early afternoon.
Optimal Fishing Windows
All three beaches peak overnight and fall through the day, so the morning is the session that matters. Pensacola's high comes in first at 1.17 ft at 12:57 AM, followed by Navarre at 1.23 ft at 2:44 AM and Destin at 0.56 ft at 3:32 AM. Lows run 11:22 AM at Navarre (0.66 ft), 1:10 PM at Destin (0.18 ft) and 2:34 PM at Pensacola (0.51 ft). That leaves a long stretch of falling water from first light through early afternoon — combined with high solunar activity and calm seas, it is the best window of the week so far. Focus on the pier ends, the deeper troughs and beach structure. The falling water into the 11:22 AM low is the window. Destin
Spanish mackerel and hardtail are showing excellent activity through the water column, and the 3:32 AM high should set up strong feeding on the fall into the 1:10 PM low.
