Excessive runoff is expected to cause flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations, with extensive street flooding likely in some areas. Area creeks and streams are already running high after this week's rain, so further heavy downpours will have less room to soak away.
Do not drive through flooded roads. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles, and it takes surprisingly little moving water to float a car. If you are staying near the beach, allow extra time for travel, expect standing water on low-lying causeway and access roads, and park away from areas that pool. A watch means conditions are favourable for flooding rather than that it is already happening — but it is a reason to keep an eye on the radar and on any warnings that follow.

Man-of-war tentacles still sting after the animal washes ashore, so give anything stranded on the sand a wide berth and keep children and dogs away from it. East Pass Charter Conditions
Flat seas and light winds would make for an easy run out through East Pass on any other day. Today the sea state is not the question — the weather is. Showers and thunderstorms are likely, and open water is no place to be when one develops. If you are going, talk to your operator about the plan, expect an early return, and do not push a trip late into the afternoon. Yellowtail snapper are the offshore target in deeper Gulf water, with the calmest conditions and best visibility around midday. Half-day and full-day trips run out of Destin Harbor year-round; call ahead rather than turning up.
Henderson Beach Surf Fishing
With 0.6 ft surf and low rip risk, wading the trough is straightforward — though the purple flag makes bare legs a poor idea today. Bonita and hardtail lead the action along the beach and in the nearshore Gulf, with the schooling hardtail particularly active during the tidal transitions. The 10:50 AM high is the window. Destin has no municipal pier, so the beach and the boats are the options, and neither offers shelter from lightning — keep an eye on the sky and be prepared to pack up quickly.
