The National Weather Service has rip current risk at low today with surf around a foot, and low every period through Tuesday night. Low is the best rating the service issues, but it is worth quoting their own definition: even at low risk, life-threatening rip currents often occur in the vicinity of groins, jetties, reefs and piers. Give those structures room and swim near a lifeguard.
Green means low hazard: calm conditions and the safest water rating the beach issues. With waves around a foot, light winds and rip risk at low, the flag and the forecast agree. Green is not a guarantee, though — currents can still form, the flag can be re-rated during the day, and structures like piers and jetties remain the places where rip currents concentrate. The purple flag is up alongside the green, meaning dangerous marine life has been reported in the water — on this coast in late September that usually means jellyfish or Portuguese man-of-war. Purple is a separate warning and does not cancel the green flag: the water itself is calm, but there is something in it worth avoiding. Man-of-war tentacles still sting after the animal washes ashore, so give anything stranded on the sand a wide berth and keep children and dogs away from it. Is It Safe to Swim at Navarre Beach Today?

Navarre Beach Pier Today
Solunar rates very high — the strongest rating available — and with five species running this is one of the better fishing days of the month. Spanish mackerel and ladyfish deliver consistent action along the beachfront and pier zones, with redfish showing solid activity around the structure. Navarre runs four tidal movements today, so feeding windows open repeatedly rather than once. Focus on pier areas and deeper troughs.
