Solunar rates high at all three beaches, six species are running, and every location peaks on a strong morning tide — Navarre 1.98 ft at 8:40 AM, Pensacola 1.90 ft at 7:41 AM, Destin 0.91 ft at 9:00 AM. Water is 86–87°F with rain chances of only 15 to 20 percent. Flags: Navarre yellow with purple, Pensacola and Destin yellow. The change from the weekend is that rip current risk is up to moderate with surf building and east winds to 20 mph.
The National Weather Service has raised rip current risk to moderate today, ending the low-risk run that held through the long weekend. Moderate means life-threatening rip currents are possible in the surf zone. Surf is building — the NWS surf zone forecast puts it at 2 to 3 feet with east winds around 15 mph, noticeably up on the foot of glassy water we had yesterday.
Swim near a lifeguard, stay within your depth, and keep clear of piers, jetties and groins where currents concentrate. If you are caught in one, do not swim against it: swim parallel to shore until you are out of the pull, then come in at an angle. If you cannot break free, float and wave for help rather than exhausting yourself. Moderate risk holds through Wednesday before easing back to low Wednesday night.
Moderate rip current risk is more of an angler's problem than a swimmer's. Wading out to reach a trough puts you in exactly the water where rips form, and they concentrate around pier pilings, jetties and the passes — the same structure that holds fish. With surf building to 2 to 3 feet in the regional forecast and easterly winds up to 20 mph, footing will be less certain than it has been all week.
Stay shallow, keep a foot planted, and do not wade alone. Fishing from the pier, a boat or dry sand carries none of this risk, and on a high-solunar day with strong morning tides the pier is a perfectly good proposition. Navarre is also flying a purple flag for dangerous marine life.

Spanish Mackerel — The most dependable target along beaches, piers and the surf line, responding well to current and structure. Position along pier pilings, deeper troughs and the nearshore sandbars. Early morning and late afternoon yield the most aggressive feeding.
Ladyfish — Consistently accessible in the nearshore and beach zone, running around pier areas and deeper water transitions. Aggressive feeders that respond through the day with peaks during the tidal changes.
Hardtail — In nearshore Gulf waters with availability increasing in the deeper zones, mixed into the mackerel bite near structure and current. Strong feeding activity during the tide transitions.
King Mackerel — An offshore opportunity beyond the beach zone and at the deeper pier sections, holding where structure concentrates baitfish. Early morning is typically the best of it.
Mahi-Mahi — An offshore target for boats accessing deeper open Gulf water, well beyond the beach zone.
Yellowtail Snapper — Part of the offshore mix for those with boat access to the deeper bottom structure, present through the deeper Gulf zones.
Best approach today: fish the strong morning tides and work the pier or dry sand rather than wading deep, with rips at moderate.
Optimal Fishing Windows
The morning highs are strong and closely spaced, which suits a high-solunar day. Pensacola peaks first at 1.90 ft at 7:41 AM, then Navarre at 1.98 ft at 8:40 AM — the strongest of the three — and Destin at 0.91 ft at 9:00 AM. Lows follow at 5:47 PM at Pensacola (0.23 ft), 6:44 PM at Navarre (0.26 ft) and 7:48 PM at Destin (0.10 ft). Pensacola Beach

The 7:41 AM high is the earliest of the three, so the strong current comes early here. Winds are the stiffest on the coast at up to 20 mph, which favours the pier deck over the sand. Destin
No municipal pier here, so it is East Pass charters or surf fishing at Henderson Beach. Spanish mackerel and ladyfish are the most reliable beach targets, with hardtail increasing in the nearshore Gulf and king mackerel, mahi-mahi and yellowtail snapper available offshore. The high solunar rating and favourable tide timing deliver strong opportunities, though the run out through the pass will be rougher than it has been. Yellow flag, no purple.
